Connect Strava
The Strava connection retrieves running and trail activities without requiring each file to be exported manually.
First connection
- In MINDRAW, open Devices.
- On the Strava card, select Connect.
- MINDRAW opens Strava's official authorisation page.
- Sign in to Strava if necessary and authorise activity access.
- After returning to MINDRAW, choose which activities to retrieve.
MINDRAW never receives your Strava password. The connection uses OAuth and
requires the activity:read_all permission to access activities, including
those that are not public. Technical tokens are stored encrypted and refreshed
automatically when they expire.
If activity access is refused or cleared in Strava, the connection cannot be completed.
Choose activities
The Sync Strava window offers two methods:
- Recent activities: retrieve between 1 and 200 recent activities;
- Date range: choose start and end dates covering no more than one year.
Then select the sports to retain:
- Running, including virtual running;
- Trail.
By default, MINDRAW proposes the latest 20 activities and enables both running types. After synchronisation, the Activities page opens for the retrieved period and reports how many activities were found and newly added.
Sync new activities
Synchronisation does not run automatically in the background. To retrieve new activities:
- return to Devices;
- use the sync button on the Strava card;
- choose recent activities or a date range;
- select Sync.
An activity already present is updated without creating a duplicate. The date of the last sync and any error are displayed on the Strava card.
Retrieved data
MINDRAW stores the summary data available from Strava:
- activity name, type and date;
- moving time and distance;
- average and maximum speed;
- elevation gain;
- average and maximum heart rate when supplied by Strava;
- calories when available.
This makes the activity available in MINDRAW and updates compatible runner profile indicators.
The current sync uses the Strava activity summary. It does not retrieve second-by-second records such as the GPS track, point-by-point elevation, cadence, power, temperature, or heart-rate series. Analyses that depend on these records may therefore be unavailable or less precise. Import the original FIT file for a complete analysis.
Disconnect Strava
Under Devices, use the delete icon on the Strava card and confirm. The connection becomes inactive and MINDRAW can no longer perform new syncs. Activities already imported remain in MINDRAW.
You can also revoke MINDRAW's authorisation from your Strava account settings.
Troubleshooting
- Strava is not configured on the server: the administrator must check the Strava application configuration and callback URL.
- Connection expired: restart from Devices → Strava → Connect.
- Activity access required: grant the requested permission in Strava.
- No activities retrieved: check the date range and Running/Trail filters.
- Sync failed: try again later; if it persists, disconnect and reconnect the account.
